The Jewish Genealogical Society of Los Angeles announces our January Meeting:
Sunday, January 22nd - 1:00 PM - Pre-meeting, 1:45 PM - Main Program
Pre-Meeting: "Features to Look for When Choosing Genealogy Software" - Mark Heckman
A brief overview on how to decide which family tree software to purchase for your computer.
Main Program: ?How to Make Your Own Family History Video Using Your Personal Computer?
Unleash your inner Spielberg and make an Oscar-worthy documentary about your family. In this talk you will learn how to use moderately-priced and easy-to-use computer software and hardware to create your own family history video ? incorporating still pictures and documents, home movies, other video, music, narration, and titles ? and how to share your work on videotape or DVD.
Speaker: MARK HECKMAN
Giving talks on computer applications for genealogy has been a great excuse for Mark to try out new computer tools, which is something he enjoys as much as he enjoys genealogy. Ever since he began to study his family history, Mark has used his knowledge of computers to share what he has learned with his family and fellow researchers. Heckman originated web sites for the Romanian, Galician, and Volhynia SIGs, for the shtetls of Gorodenka, Kovel, and Kamen Kashirsky, and for the Jewish Genealogical Society of Sacramento, and has taught classes in creating web pages to hundreds of genealogists at genealogical conferences and via a JewishGen e-mail course.
