Recently I obtained the World War I (UK) alien registration record for my
great grandparents, Solomon and Sarah ISAACS. As resident aliens, born in
what was then considered Russia (now Poland), my great grandparents had to
register with the local police in Birmingham, England at the beginning of
the First World War.

I have uploaded my great grandfather's alien registration record to
ViewMate and would appreciate hearing from anyone who can identify the town
he came from. According to the handwritten notation, he came from a town
near Warsaw known as Malaro (or possibly Walaro - what appears to be an "M"
might be a "W"). I have been told, however, that the name of the town might
have been written phonetically by the police officer conducting the
interview, or even be an abbreviation or misspelling (due to possible
communication problems).

The file - VM7145 - can be viewed on the ViewMate site:
http://data.jewishgen.org/viewmate/toview.html

The name of the town is shown in the 4th column labeled "Nationality and
Birthplace."

Please respond to me directly.
