In an obit in the Irish Times of 11 September 1925 it says "at his
residence, Avondale, Ballina, after a short illness, James Ahearn, P.C.,
U.D.C."
I think U.D.C. may stand for Urban District Council,
I would agree with that Dennis.
but what would the P.C. stand for?
Could it be Police Constable? Parish Council?
I would go with Police Constable.
P.C. also stands for "Privy Council" but the Irish Privy Council was
abolished in 1922.
(It still exists in the U.K.)
SammyM
I'd say Peace Commissioner.
