I keep looking at the header thinking someone other than me has done
the genealogy of the Bible. Lo and Behold, after I did it I saw
commercial versions were available. And the commercial versions I saw
are accurate because I compared them with mine.
A genealogy program I began using in 1987 had a Biblical genealogy as a sample
file, or was it the British Royal family.
I did the Bible genealogy not long after I started researching my own
line. It was a great learning tool. I also did Irish Mythology and
history for Sullivans.
But now is decision time. My line stops at 1790. I can take it back to
the mid-1600s by irrefutable logic, i. e., preponderance of evidence.
Good genealogy demands proof. So, do we give up if proof is not
available?
I rationalize - many purists have no guarantee that their line is not
corrupted by adoptions and illicit liaisons. So, is unarguable
evidence any worse?
My problem is compounded by the fact that certain people are
absolutely known to be in areas (by court appearances) in 1790 and
1800 yet they never appear on a census. I am convinced that proof is
not, and never will be, available.
So, as Ferdinand the Bull said after failing to completely clear a
barb wire fence that was slightly too high, "How now, cow?"
I am leaning toward putting my data online and let the survivors learn
whether I was right or wrong. I would not be the first to do that -
errors abound.
One of my genealogical legs must be shorter than the other - I keep
going in circles.
We need to dig up all people buried before about 1850 and take DNA
samples. I guess then we would need to determine who they were.
