Your new file might not be immediately readable. However, you should be able
I recently upgraded from FTM version 8 to family tree maker 2009
(Version 18?) but dislike it immensely. Since upgrading I have not
worked on it yet. There are so many windows and the screen is so
"busy" I just can not understand half of it or figure out what the H
is where.
Question is would it be possible to revert to version 8 or 10 which I
have both of after trying 18? Would version 8 or 10 read my family
file after being used in version 18? I should have kept the family
file from 10 in case I did not like 18 but I did not.
to tell it to save for an older version. With FTM 2005 (which I'm still
using) if you go to the [File] menu and look under [Export File] and then
[Entire File] and [save as type] you get a whole shopping list you can save
as. I's also make a gedcom, just to be safe, but it shouldn't be necessary.
I use this for making files for my brother, who's using an earlier version
than I am.
