Exporting/importing married names in family tree software

The convention in family trees is to store the names of females (whether married or not) under the birth name. Most desktop apps follow this convention.

I'm also aware that the GEDCOM standard does not include married names, so exporting from a typical genie program (Legacy, FTW ,etc) has no such facility.

But the convention of use is to describe married women by their married name.

phpGedView solves this with a plugin that creates the married names, and displays them subordinately to the birth name. This is a separate function, not connected with any GEDCOM, but very useful.

However, it is possible that there are apps that allow the export of married names in GEDCOMs, and apps that will absorb and use these GEDCOMs to replicate married names in another instance.

Has anyone worked through this and found a resolution?
