Way back in March it was reported by one of the "Trustees", in reply...

The good news is that people *do* seem to be heeding the message, and
using the site when we have spare capacity. The better news is that one
of the servers is due back with us tomorrow, having been back to the
makers for a new motherboard. It will take us a few days to reload the
website and database to it, but it should be back serving data within a
week. The other dead server is still with the makers, and should be
back soon afterwards.

But this is the position as at Sun 23 April 2006,........

Server Problems

Due to hardware problems, two of our seven servers are currently out of
action.
(Valid at 23 April 2006)
We are working to rectify the problem, and hope to have FreeBMD back at
full power in the near future.

Progress is a little slow.....................................

I don't often read this group (too busy keeping FreeBMD running to read all
the groups that I might want to), so I haven't been able to reply sooner.

[Hint, if you're posting about FreeBMD, and want some input, post somewhere
that I might read it!]

As you might have noticed, we've made significant advances since then, and
the site is working well.

We are still operating with a reduced number of servers, mainly because we
are undertaking a programme of upgrade and repair a couple of servers at a
time.
