I'm running Legacy 6.0 (basic version), and can't figure out how to do a general search throughout a given family database file. For example, I wanted to find the word 'Litchfield' (a place name) anywhere in the data.

As best I can tell, you can only search specific fields, which seems pretty limiting. I don't see that the deluxe (pay) version does any more, according to the features list.

I used to be able to do a general search in Reunion when I was using it on the Mac - surely there must be a way to do so in Legacy!

Any suggestions?

If anyone wants to go this way (using Legacy data directly from MS Access) here is the table list with some idea of how each is used:

Legacy 4 (L4), Legacy 5 (L5) and Legacy 6 (L6)

tblAR - address register 26 fields in L4, 27 in L5, L6
tblBP - to do with picture storage 4 fields in L4, 5 in L5, L6
tblBR - picture information 16 fields in all
tblCP - 5 fields - in L5, L6 only
tblCR - Child record - 13 fields in L4 and L5, 14 in L6
tblCS - Child status 4 fields in L4, 5 in L5 and L6
tblDM - 2 fields (possibly parents?)
tblER - 14 fields (includes events?) in L4, 15 in L5, 16 in L6
tblET - event description table. Comes preloaded with 90-some common events. 15 fields in L4, 18 in L5, 19 in L6
tblHB - 3 fields
tblHL - 3 fields
tblHR - basic user info (compiler etc) 2 fields
tblIR - individual records 80 fields in L4, 83 in L5, 92 in L6
tblLR - location records 11 fields in L4, 12 in L5 and L6
tblMR - marriage records 50 fields in L4, 57 in L5, 63 in L6
tblMS - marriage status Comes preloaded. 4 fields in L4, 5 in L5 and L6
