Unmarried mother, marries when her daughter is two years old.Husband is not the father.Daughter's nameThere was no *have to* about it - some stepdaughters did take their stepfather's surname, some did not. Depending on the time frame (always good to say what period you are enquiring about), there would have been no formal adoption of the new surname, it just happened. Children born later would be half-siblings of the daughter (same mother, different father). Same for marriage - when *proof* of age was required (i.e. in the 20th century, see the Marriage Act of 1949, maybe earlier) she would use the surname she was registered under, otherwise it could be either.
registered in mother's maiden name, does the daughter, have to change her surname to stepfather's name or can
she keep her registered name.Mother has children,by husband, what relation, are they to the daughter. If the
daughter marries, what maiden name can she use.
