Re: Sacristan Information

An uncle (great uncle?) of mine served as a Sacristan at St. George's
Chapel, Windsor. He, and his wife, lived in one of the wonderful little
houses that seemed to be below ground and fairly near the chapel. My
parents and I visited them one day in about the early 1940s and we were
lucky enough to be allowed to stay on out of Windsor Castle visiting hours
and to sit in the Chapel to listen to the choir rehearsing.

Unfortunately I cannot remember how the gentleman was related to us and am
not sure of his surname. I think that it may have been Workman or Hake.
Has anyone any idea how I might go about finding more information on this
lovely couple?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Why not contact the Archivist at
http://www.stgeorges-windsor.org/archives/contact-us1.html

Chances are that they will have records of who the Sacristans were at the time of interest.
