Hello:

In 1931, Walter Goddard sailed from Rio Janeiro to England, arriving at
Southampton in May. He declared that his intended address was no. 47
Rosendale Road, West Dulwich.

I've looked at the historic directories online (they don't run that
late), and ancestry requires a name input to their database.

How can I find out who lived at that address in 1931, please?

Probably voters' and ratepayers' records but they will fairly
certainly be with the local authority.

I need to go to the library that has these ERs on another enquiry, so
I'll have a look. Don't spend any money on the Land Registry, Walter,
until I get back to you.

Sorry for the delay in replying, as I've only just seen the thread due
to Google's looong sleep. There may be a further delay due to
uncertain transport and opening times in London in the present
situation.
