Hello everyone.
I'm trying to work out the cause of death of an ancestor from her death

Thank you everyone, for helping out with this. I'm certain that you're all correct about "Accouchement" - not a word I'd heard before.
Thomas Manning Petherbridge went on to marry Salome Stephens (whom I believe was Mary's younger sister) six years later. I suspect it was a marriage of convenience, as the two didn't spend much time together if the Censuses are any guide. Salome died in 1895, and Thomas outlived them all, finally expiring in 1906 at the grand old age of 88.
