I thought 'remitted' also. Message to Anne - perhaps you have CDs of TheNo, I only have access to the Times through the National Library eResources.
Times?
Been searching with Nat. Library log in card there and 19th cent British
newspapers but it's the devil's own job finding the right Search term for
say Surrey Newspapers (similar to above query), man charged 1877- but he
dies a few years later.
Last year, found an inquest ref. in Belfast newspaper but have lost the
knack or maybe some parts of the site are already down for maintenance,
happening soon..
(This might help others similarly stymied)
Do you knowm how would you search for a Surrey newspaper say on
http://www.nla.gov.au/app/eresources/item/3303 ??
Many thanks for any help,
Diana
Have you tried the "Browse publications by location" menu on the 19thC newspapers search page ?
That shows, under 'Ireland', the Belfast News-Letter and, presumably, under 'London' some Surrey papers. Otherwise, maybe contact local Surrey libraries - I've always found them very helpful.
