THts the conclusion I came to, most Holloways are Norfolk/Southern based generally. The only thing that may be the
reason, is the birth was registered by a friend, a Margaret Clough who was probably illiterate as she made a X instead of
signing at the registration.

I did have a look for a Hobday, as that phonetically may sound like Holliday.. I have also tried freeBMD which a
previous responder mentioned.. I actually think in some cases it gives a better pointer to start, but there is obviously
more detail on Ancestry.

While looking for Sarah Ann, I came across another Sarah Ann Nesbitt who died in 1917, aged 17 in Weardale. This was
most likely the disabled daughter of Joseph, the son of Sarah Ann (Holloway?) and John Nesbitt who was born in Weardale
1900. Joseph emigrated to the USA without is wife apparently because they would have refused entry if they had all gone.

ITYF it was fairly common for a husband to do a recce of a potential
emigration destination and establish a job and home before the rest of
the family followed. I have found this with a few of my North American
cousins' families and my own great-grandfather did so to Canada but
came back (my grandmother who was a child at the time had told him she
was not going to go anyway).
