The first picture is either Alice (b. 1871) or her mother, MargueriteI don't suppose there's a way to find out when Shawcross was
(b.1844). I think it is a photograph of Alice, in which case the date
is circa 1914. If it’s Margot, it cannot be later that 1906. The
photograph was taken in Preston, Lancashire by Leslie Shawcross

in business in Preston? I mean, if he were there only
between 1910 and 1913, that tells you something.
Joseph Leslie Thomas SHAWCROSS is shown in the 1911 Census as being a
'photographer', working from 97, Preston New Road, Blackburn, Lancashire,
with his wife and family. He is then 44 years of age and he has a son of the
same name at age 11 who might have taken over the business. One of your
ladies - Alice - looks very Edwardian and so I think he would fit your bill
for her.
Thank you. I think Joseph was known as Leslie. The exact address fits
very well.
The lady with the boa looks as if she has some sort of Mayorial chain round
her neck?
Good hunting
