Re: Don Moody R.I.P.

It is with sadness that I announce the death of my father, Don Moody,
who seems to have helped and troubled this group in equal measure. He
passed away at 9:30 p.m. this evening, 27th February 2009.

Dad eventually lost his battle against diabetes and was suffering from
kidney failure, ischaemia and partial blindness. In the end an
attempt to revascularise his leg with angioplasty failed and he died
in Exeter hospital.

As some of you have noted in your "Where's Don?" posts his activity on
this newsgroup has been sporadic and ever-decreasing in recent times.

I hope that even those who experienced Dad's sometimes emotionally
unintelligent approach to genealogy will in the final analysis balance
that against some of the good things he did for people in this group
and at least note the passing of a worthy adversary.

The Last Post.

Danny Moody.

Danny
Please pass my sincerest condolences on to all your family.
Without doubt Don will be much missed, his intellect, ability, commitment, depth of knowledge and passion for that knowledge was unsurpassed.
His love for his family shone through at all times.
His utter lack of patience for many circumstances and situations also probably made him a more than averagely interesting ! person to live with, or maybe places like this were a useful outlet to let off steam. His inability to tolerate fools meant he did not make himself easy to love outside the family, but there was certainly a great deal to respect, and like, in between the explosions.
I will miss him, certainly.
I have said on more than one occasion I would love to have spent time with his library, which must be an astonishing place, and would have liked to have ventured into the "lions den" of his company !
If any of you find yourselves up here, on holiday or even on a Bain trail, please drop in.

Once again, my heartfelt sympathies, he will leave a large hole in many hearts, and a significant one here.
