Although this doesn't concern a genealogy site it should serve as a
warning: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7896309.stm

Read the T&Cs before posting your data online. Even better - keep a
copy of what you've agreed to just in case the site attempts to
alter them later.

The real question is 'what option have you got?' The actual options
are accept the T&C as is or as altered subsequently, or don't put the
data online.

The option that doesn't exist, especially with big service suppliers,
is for an individual to negotiate a change in T&C.

The further problem is that if the site is hosted overseas, the
protections of UK jurisdictions don't apply. So there is no point in
calling up Unfair Terms of Trading, and suchlike. Furthermore such
sites will be hosted in places where it is prohibitively expensive for
a UK individual to sue.

The bottom line is that if you put data online at all, you've in
effect lost all control of what is done with it, The notional T&C
don't really matter.
