The only relevance of this topic to genealogy is whether or not the MIs
have been recorded.
Quite wrong. For times before state recording of BMDs, parish records
are our main source of genealogical data. But those records can be and
have been lost: in fire, in flood, by bombing. In some cases,
gravestones are the only surviving records of names, dates and places of
death.
