Some fairly blatant errors can be found but in many cases the informant's attention at the time of registration might not be entirely on the details in the paperwork other than the deceased's basic details. When errors are eventually discovered it isn't always a real necessity to do anything about it unless it prevents some later action (e.g. burying the body, processing the will, claiming a pension etc.) In the case of my grandmother the registration includes a middle name which appears nowhere other than the death registration while one of my great-grandfathers has a wrong first name given for his father.
