Gateshead both are listed as Glass makers born in Ireland.
By 1873 both had moved to Newcastle, Northumberland.
Joseph married there in 1873 but also entered into a bigamous marriage with my 2 gt grandmother in Glasgow in 1876.
Joseph's father also Joseph was listed as currier(deceased)
I am aware that currying is connected with the leather making process
but was wondering whether Joseph sr's occupation might help me to pin point or at least narrow the areas in Ireland in which he might have lived/worked.
Since currying also means to clean a horse, looking for a currier in Ireland is like looking for an ear of corn in a prairie. You'll have to find Joseph sr by some other method than his trade.

Unfortunately i have nothing much to go on re Joseph sr other than that he was married to a Jane Clark/Clerk and they were both deceased by the time of the bigamous 'marriage' in 1876.
I have a feeling the family might have been protestants but that is only based on the tenuous ground that my gt grandfather Thomas Bowman married at the Free Church.
