If there is anything wrong with an application (other than an unclear
reference) then the GRO will contact the applicant - which is the
whole point of supplying at least an email address if not a phone
number.
They've queried a couple with me. OK, it's added a couple of days to
the receipt time, but they arrived.
There's also the reference checking points that can be used.
All that said, I do tend to use findmypast anyway, esp with freeBMD
being a victim of its own success :))
