Identifying road junction?

A friend and I are frustrated by being unable to identify the location
of an old photo, and any help would be much appreciated please. It's
in a booklet called "The Story of Erdington" by Douglas V Jones, and
its caption reads "Blythe and Mason's Lanes, Erdington'.
From the details readable on the signpost, the picture (of a 4 or 5way junction) was possibly taken somewhere in the vicinity of Chester
Road in Erdington, perhaps near Tyburn Road or Orphanage Road (then
Eachelhurst Road). But we can find no match on the few OS maps (1930s,
40s, 50s) we've pored over. Nor has my googling found any relevant
reference to Blythe Lane or Mason Lane.
Short of a visit to Birmingham Reference Library (long trips), we're
stumped. Can anyone shed any light please?
BTW, more generally, is there any online source of census transcripts
including the *address* data? That would presumably be a possible
worthwhile approach in cases like this?
