Compeared = compelled/required to appear (as often found in Kirk
Session records). In the context of an executry it is IMU usually to
be understood as the person's presence not being made by legal
compulsion (as with e.g. a witness citation) but by necessity so that
the deceased's estate can be dealt with in accordance with the usual
procedures.
