Not a true statement by you.
I answered your query on the FreeBMD Mailing list on 5 Mar 2008 please
see
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/FreeBMD-Admins/2008-03/1204737089
Just in case you memory has let you down, this is the answer I gave:
"Another responder to you query mentioned an identical entry appears
in the Index for quarter is Jul Aug Sept 1918 (FreeBMD scan 1918B3-
C-0156.jpg
refers).
Transcription by FreeBMD of the Index for 1918 Sep Births is at
present 5% complete. From the limited checking I've just carried out
it does seem
unlikely that a search for surname Came would have produced a result
back in November."
So why are you posting this same query on another list?

Last November via Free BMD I found an entry which I recorded for future
reference it was a birth record;
CAME Ernest F Came Hampstead.1a 733 3 1918
I now find that the birth 'fits' my family tree ... so to be sure I went
back to Free BMD to see if I had the details correctly recorded and it was
not there despite repeated checks .. other branches of the family had also
recorded the birth exactly as I had.
I have written to Free BMD on two occasions in recent weeks to draw it to
their attention but have received no response.
Any thoughts?
Is it possible for someone to alter an entry?
I wonder if I am on 'safe ground' if I order a copy of his BC using that
