A couple of weeks ago IE hung while accessing the GR site, happened

Since then, and only when accessing GR, IE has slowed down and a
standard M$ info bar has popped up stating that IE was running slow
and needed an upgrade to fix, usual do now or cancel button. The first
time I selected do now and was taken to another site which
automatically scanned my drive for faults, very quickly finding a
couple of hundred or more and suggested these were fixed. Then I was
informed that the cost of fixing would be $39.99. I cancelled and
quit.
Since then this has happened several times, only when accessing GR,
and choosing the cancel option does nothing but take me into the scan
disk operation at which point I have to shut down IE to stop it. Has
anyone else experienced this? It's odd that I can browse for days
without problems and only when accessing GR it happens. If I access GR
the same day again it doesn't happen but the following day it does.
I've scanned explorer for viruses but it shows as clean and the last
alteration date was last June, no doubt the normal windows upgrade
thing.
Anyone got any ideas?

Hello Kay:
I have been using IE on Genes Reunited today, and it works fine.
I also have the Firefox browser on my machine, which I use when
IE gives me problems.
The little program that asked you to upgrade for $$$ sounds like
the RegCure package. It is known for over exaggerating the
number of errors and then asking for $$ for an upgrade.
My suggestion is to download a new (clean) copy of IE from
Microsoft.
You might also wish to wipe RegCure from your machine and
even try downloading Firefox as a browser (it's free).
In any case, it appears that Genes Reunited is NOT the problem.
Good Luck
Blair
