As a beginner on Usenet, I have seen several references to kill-files.
Will some kind person tell me how I might implement such?

Depends how you're reading this (when asking "how do I" is always best to
state the software you're using). In OE, got to Tools, Message Rules, News
to block a person. To block a thread, look on the list of message titles. At
the top, beside "subject" is a pair of specs. Click beside the thread you
want to block untile a little "no entry" sign crops up. Make sure your
newsreader is set to only show messages that are unread and not blocked.

Thankyou, Lesley, for your kind assistance.

I am a beginner with Usenet, but have enough computer literacy - plus
15 years experience with other types of bulletin board - to have
searched obvious sources of information before asking.

I read this newsgroup via either the "digest" email delivered to my
inbox in Outlook, or Google Groups using a browser.

I guess I will need to switch to using a proper newsreader.

I use Agent (the paid for version) and have the facility to block both
posters and threads - it's proved really useful recently :-)

For email I use Thunderbird - seems to work well - I have to use
Outlook in work and i've never been impressed by its requiremant for
me to top post replies.

Hope this helps.
