I could answer the question but I wouldn't want the prize. That would
be a way of becoming an infamous extremely dead person. Now if you
offered a glass of the water of life (real stuff, not blend) it would
be a different matter.

Unfortunately, arguing the general case about privacy from a single
case of a rich author is a nonsense. The rich have the means to
surround themselves with assorted methods of preventing harmful
intrusion from sickos. The poor don't have that luxury. Since they
can't prevent intrusion if they are found, their only protection is to
become as difficult to find as they can arrange while still working
and living out there in the public arena. Beyond them are the aged and
infirm, the sort of people who fall for distraction burglaries for
example, whose condition and location should never be made public
beyond a small trusted circle. Like the old lady with a considerable
number of valuable knick-knacks around her home. She was rung up last
night to make sure her carer got her ready for a visit from a Social
Services assessor. This morning she rang to say she wasn't well enough
to be taken to the surgery for her flu jab, which isn't until next
month. There is no effective way for her to cope with intruders. The
only solution for her is to 'disappear' off the radar of as many
potential intruders as possible. Yes that is only one case. But it is
a typical case, and we see them day after day. Like it or not there is
an undeniable fact: a large number of people who cannot cope with
intrusions, and who do not have the money to buy protection.

Just to confirm that I do know the public identity of the famous lady,
and the uselessness of using mother's maiden name as a security check,
I'll point out that you wouldn't have to look very far from your own
residence to find more folk of the same surname.
