A death notice, transcribed from the 1 Nov 1851 edition of The Armagh Guardian, by permission of the British Library:
Lately, at Greet, near Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, aged 78,
Mr. Thomas Hale, farmer. The deceased was formerly in poor
circumstances, but a considerable sum having been left him by
some maiden ladies, his prospects underwent a change for the
better, and by his industrious and careful habits he managed to
accumulate a large fortune, worth more than £100,000.
