duplicates the FreeBMD index apart from the maiden names which you can
usually work out from finding the marriage anyway. What they should be doing
is scanning the actual entries (the ones we see on certificates) and fully
inputting the data from the entries which would then become a true goldmine
for family historians and bring them far more profit than they'll get with
this venture.
It is very much a missed opportunity.
It was talked about a number of years ago but nothing was ever done
about it. I may still have the green paper from then.
