It's no more off topic than many threads on this NG.

I agree that, according to the charter, they should not be posted. However, many of these drifts in regard to anthropolgy, archeology, DNA do contribute to a general understanding of cultural development related scientific issues which I believe are useful.

Wasted bandwidth is much less of an issue than it used to be. Additionally most newsreaders allow downloading of headers only and have the facility to ignore threads.
