Re: Help for a Newbie please


I thought I had one like that - a woman coming back to her home town
as a "widow" with a young child. A likely story! But she actually was
- I've found her first marriage and her first husbands death a very
few months later.


The oddest one that I had involved a lady who gave her name as "Clare
Jones, formerly Coles". The father's name was given as "Arthur
Jones". No sign anywhere of a marriage between Coles & Jones. About
three years later though I found the marriage - Clare had married a
completely different Mr Jones 15 years earlier. She was actually the
widow of that Mr Jones & had an illegitimate child by the second Mr
Jones. Problem is that you read a birth certificate with Jones &
Jones and assume that they are married - it isn't always the case...
