On the 1861 census in West Ham, my grandfather had a family from Russia
living next door. Some journey that must have been.
I have two second cousins, sisters, living in Clerkenwell, who both married
Russian emigres in the 1880s.
One couple I can trace in the 1901 Census (in Hackney), the other couple
disappear completely, although their son is with his grandmother. He's
enumerated with his mother's maiden name but that may not be significant.
