There could be all sorts of reasons for that. I have one family in my tree where all the children were known by diminutives of their middle names; do you know what Christina's full name was? Jessie could also have been a nickname - my father was always known as John, despite having been christened Robert Edward Henry; he was dubbed John as a baby though and the name stuck. It's also possible, of course, that Christina and Jessie are actually two different people and your grandmother actually had more than one relative.
