Does he give the same sort of date for other 'month' names ?
e.g.April and May ?
May arrived as a pet name for Mary, then caught on as a stand alone name,

I've noticed when I write Mary quickly it looks like May.
I suppose it may have caught on when flower names were in
fashion too.
April is another late developer, roughly level with the use of June.
The book gives (1917) for April, and (1904) for Avril.
However, there's a birth for an April Ramsbottom in Jun qtr 1838.
