The Weems setteled in West Columbia TX and thru a connection with them*********
one lady (who is still living) meet up with Lady Victoria whom lived

related to those that lived in the castle and was told at that time
that James was the father and Elizabeth Locke *************
I will look at the link you've given me and see if they will provide
me the information I'm looking for etc.
We know and can prove that this is the same person just need
confirmation on parents names.
So "WHAT" Parish Records have you viewed ????
And I do not mean the funny people in the IGI & Ancestry !!!

I am not wanting to go back as far as
some links would suggest that this line goes all the way back to
Margaret of Scotland etc. I just want to confirm that James Wemyss
and Elizabeth Locke are his parents.

NOW to answer the big question: Why is Scotland so pissed with us.
Well upon visiting both Wemyss Castle (where the current descents
still live) and Gosford House (where the current Earl of Wemyss
lives).
If you do not have proof of parentage how do you know that any place called
Wemyss or any Earl called Wemyss is remotely related to you or your family ?
I can absolutely assured you that, while there might be a person or two, who
have no knowlege or understanding about family, history or genealogy, who
may have taken some slight to whatever was published some years back by some
person, that Scotland itself or 99.9999999999999999999 % of its population
really really really could not care less.
In fact we have never heard of you and really do not mind if one of your
family once upon a time called himself Lord of all he surveyed.
As to the job in hand -- tracing YOUR actual [not percieved or romantic]
family tree - you have come to the right place.
There are a great many highly experienced brains to guide your quest.
Just forget all the tall tales. [and shift through Don's rather unfortunate
manner and infinately appalling attitude problem, hidden deep amongst his
angst and ire are some real gems. Honest]
If when you have finished some seriously studied genealogical research, you
find that there is a few grains of truth in them -- hey thats fine.
If not - thats just as fine, because you will have done something you can be
proud of and maybe a little closer to the truth.
oh - by the way
Marriages of Weems from 1553 - 1855 in Scotlandspeople 173 records 1259
using soundex
Births / Baptisms of Weems in same place and period 364 records 2050
