Why does Genealogy have to be so hard? It's not a problem to actually
research the facts, the problem actually comes in presenting them! There
seems to be a great debate over just what should be presented, with so
many views given by other people.

I've published much of my research, but have avoided doing anything else
except giving the names of living people, although, as I understand the
situation, there is no legal reason to prevent me doing so (vide all the
unauthorised biographies, magazine & newspaper reports about so-called
celebrities).
However, common sense suggests that for the protection of your family and
relations in these days of identity theft etc such details are best
avoided. (and definitely avoid using your mother's maiden name for banking
purposes!). I also see no reason to upset any of our family, and those that
I am still in contact with have no problem. I've also avoided giving
details of any information which is "family knowledge" and could not easily
be found by a competent researcher for from publicly available sources.

As far a I am concerned the reason for publication was in the hope of making
some contacts which might help me to extend my tree, and in this respect I
have had some success.
My tree may be seen at www.the-edwards.org.uk
