No, that's not what was said at all. If I go to a motoring newsgroup, I
wouldn't dream of asking them how to change gear or to a computer group and
asking how to print something. Yet you seem to think it is o'k for someone
to come to this group and ask the most basic questions, ones that 5 minutes
research would have answered. Furthermore there is a considerable difference
between being robust and being abusive.

We should understand that new folk stumble into this newsgroup in a
variety of ways.
A recent poster here had happened on a Feb 06 post of mine while
trawling through the group archives. He did a 'reply to sender' from
there (yes, you can do that) hence there was no previous post showning
above his response. I have now advised him how to set up an account
to get the newsgroup properly.
As a newbie, I lurked for nearly 6 months here before my first post
sometime in 2003. In those days Barry Ruck's 4 FAQs were my
obligatory reading. His latest updates were on the top of my display,
with KEEP flags attached to them. They're still there, dated 27/02/04.
Sadly Barry no longer maintains that good work. The result, if my
memory serves me correctly, of abuse here.
