This is exactly what I am doing but often find that instead of producing
the page it gives this response about exact searches. How do I then get it
back to ranked searches?
Could I raise another matter? Is there any way of getting the original
handwritten Index pages when you are presented with a typed one from years
before typewriters were used?
Searching the Ancestry BMD images does not use the same input form as you
are not searching for an exact name match - merely a page who's first and
last entry fall either side of what you input. You can input total crap
and it will do it's best to find a page that might include what you asked
for (try Qwerty Wysiwyg). It will occasionally pump out the stock 'search
tip' (Zzz Zzzzz seems to do it) but there are no ranked searches on the
BMD images - despite what the message says.
