I have just made contact with someone who shares some ancestry with me in the 1840's - my Great Great Great Grandmother and their Great Grandfather were sister and brother - what relation does that make us to each other!!??
This is v. confusing!
Cheers,
D.
Count the 'G's
the smaller: Great Grandfather = 2 = Second cousin
The Larger - the smaller: Great Great Great Grandmother = 4 - 2 = Twice removed.
Roy.
Same Father is sibling
Same Grandfather is cousin.
Same Great Grandfather is second cousin
That's what I read in the original post of "my Great Great Great Grandmother and their Great Grandfather were sister and brother"
MickG
that'll teach me to scan instead of take time out to read. But counting the G's to the common ancestor still works.
