Hi Maire,
I initially hesitated with the "smudge" on the "1" of 1821 and had a good
look, but the bottom part really doesn't match up with the other "7"s in the
window so decided that it was definitely 1821 and not 1827.
Also have had some expert opinion that the four squares at the corner of the
inner piece are a monogram "MW" which adds another combination for looking
into!
The glass and materials are now attributed to the 1840s - 1860s with the
inner square section appearing to be of a better quality (although the outer
is considered high quality anyway).
I've checked the measurements and this appears to be the type of window that
would appear over an entrance door.
It is possible that the main (outer glass) was made here and the inner
square imported and inserted into the main glass.
I'm now working on WHERE it was located - that is taking some gentle
cajoling of people a little reluctant to open up. Basically it was
purchased about 4 years ago at a well-known Sunday market in Melbourne - the
purchaser considered the price a bargain at the time. It was the sellers
who stated that it was "found in a shed down by the Bellarine Peninsula" and
that's my focus right now. What shed, where, who found it, etc. etc.
John's suggestion of checking local papers is an option but only after we
narrow down where. Also it's more likely to be listed under the person or
the building so that's a little too broad a wild goose chase at the moment.
Thanks you all for the continued suggestions and ideas - it all helps in
trying to solve this puzzle.
Regards ......... Susie Zada

Just looking at it now and wondering about 1821. Are you sure it's 1821
and not 1827? Would be worth looking at 1827 for Falkirk maybe.

Might it be worth looking in the local papers for 1852? Such a piece of
