south of England, only the grey American tree rat. The last time I had a
conversation with a red squirrel was on Tayside about five years ago;
very talkative it was too, we remained about two feet apart for about
ten minuets.
About forty years ago there were still some reds in Suffolk on the
Shotley peninsular, where I ocassionly saw them, but all gone now.
