Thanks Forrest for the information.
Thanks to Colin Watters too.
Forrest, the information I recieved from the researcher was from the Pay Musters WO12/3791, 3792,3850 and Monthly Returns of the Regiment WO17/275,327 of the 21st Foot.
Date of commission as 2nd Lieutenant 03 Feb 1814.
After being at the battle for New Orleans the researcher said Alexander went A.W.O.L. 23 May 1818.(Noted from the Monthly Returns 25th May 1818)
25th June 1818 Monthly Return shows Alexander in 103rd Foot on Half Pay.
(He married for the first time 01 Oct 1818!)
The researcher said Alexander was never again called to active duty.
This flies in the face of all the subsequent birth and marriage certificates which bear various, previosly mentioned, Army Commissions.
I will order the films you mentioned as soon as the FHS opens after the holiday.
This man has defied all efforts to find out where he came from before 1818!
Thanks for the time you take to help us all.
