12 months ago, I had barely done anything on my family tree. Mine now
goes as far back as 1793.

How did I get this far? I used Genes Reunited, put on a minute amount
of family information, and another member of GR happened to be browsing
other trees with surnames matching any in hers - and one person in my
tree matched with hers.

You may not have a huge amount of information, but do take the time and
money where necessary to get your information out there and also look
at other people's stored information - you may be surprised at what you
can gain this way.

I don't think you'll find anyone unwilling to answer a query about
whether you may have a possible match with someone in their tree -
we're all after the same goal, and so far, I've found other people
researching their family history very willing and happy to help in any
way they can!>

Of course, you have personally checked and rechecked every single piece of data you obtained from your contacts on Genes Reunited? You believe they are entirely trustworthy and accurate researchers, even though they are total strangers and you have no knowledge of their conscientiousness, methodology or discipline in research?

One imagines you must have a lengthy list of their sources for every single piece of information you have received, in order that you are able to confirm its authenticity for yourself.

Congratulations, but you will pardon one or two of us for being ever so slightly cynical. You make it all sound so easy! Personally, on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give information obtained from websites like GR at best a score of 3 until I had checked out every detail myself.
