An analogy

Imagine that you are at the top of a 100 floor building. And you are
standing on the edge, and everybody is telling you to get back from the
edge, you could be killed, and for God's sake don't jump.
But you jump off. A good friend told you it would be okay. And as you
pass the 90th floor, you yell to the people looking out the window "Hey!
This is great! Exhilarating! I'm flying. I'm living everyone's dream.
I'm free!"
And as you pass the 50th floor, you yell through the window, "Still
fine, but can you tell me how to stop now, please? This is getting a
little scary. I'd like to go back now!"
And you pass the 25th floor, and you yell "Help! Help! Stop me! Throw
me a parachute or something! Help!". And at that point, you are about
where Zimbabwe is right now.
Don't worry, you still have 24 floors to go before you die. Enjoy it
while you can, there's nothing anybody can do now. We all told you so
when you were on top.
Cheers, David
