Mutilating the injured


WHEN I visited my brothers and sisters in Mbare on August 12, I saw a
number of residents digging very deep pits in their backyards.

On asking why, I was informed that the City of Harare authorities had
instructed them to bury the rubble of their demolished houses in their
backyards. A case of concealing evidence in the event United Nations
Secretary-General Kofi Annan visits Zimbabwe!


I would like to ask Local Government minister Ignatious Chombo and the
commissioners running the City of Harare: "Why are you insensitive? Why
mutilate an injured man?"


My heart bleeds.


I could see a sense of hopelessness and helplessness. Who is going to
help the povo from this banditry?
