They called and said that I had one 3 days, 2 night airfair and hotel
vacation trip. The confirmed my name and address. Then the lady asked
if I still banked in Boise, ID, I said yes... Then she asked "Can I
ask the name of the bank?". I immediately said "no". She then replied
"Ok, goodbye" and hung up. No chance for me to ask why or anything.
When I call back it rings, then sounds like they pick up and put me
on
hold, it is silent from then on.

I already left one of these, but I was called by this number and I
decided to look further into it and it turns out that it originated
in
Clearwater, FL.
I got on myclearwater.com and e-mailed their police department with
my
strange story.
They replied with this: "Thank you for contacting the Clearwater
Police Department.
The company that called you is Travel Agents Direct, it is a
telemarketing company that obtains the personal information,
including
the bank routing #, of customers through various other marketing
companies on line or through infomercials on TV. The customer makes a
purchase through one of these of companies and their info is passed
on
to Travel Agents Direct. They supposedly sell travel related
packages.

They use phone numbers in the sequence of 727-683-1113 / 1114 /1115,

They called me this morning and got my information. I wasn't sure at
first how, but after I hung up I closed my checking account within 15
minutes and did some research. Apparently, they use the same check
verification software that many legitimate companies do. All they
have
to do is know the city, state, and name of your bank. They run that
in
the software and get a routing number. Then, they make it sound as
though they already had it, making you believe they must have your
account number too! And on top of that, they record you reiterating
all of this info, so if you ever come back to sue them or anything,
they have you telling them the info. So, it appears they obtained it
legally. Really, it's ingenious. They do all this and cover their
rear
ends. But that doesn't mean right or good. Please report them to your
bank!!!

asked for my account number, I knew something had to be up. I made up
this story about being hit with ID fraud or whatever, and my account

400 dollars. The call sounded distant, almost like they were outside,
and then she asked what my bank was (and if it was local) for

travelagentsgodirect.com), it was made Microsoft Frontpage and had
terrible markup, and I said I'm not interested. She kept nagging me
until I got off the phone-- she was very unprofessional, which didn't
help her case. Then I google'd them and found out they're a scam.

Girl named Amber from Travel Life she said. Said I won $400 vacation,
she told me my name and address. She got flustered when I wouldn't
give her my banking info, and she said, "Well it's printed on the

of the bank, so anyone who sees you walk in and out of there knows

name of it." Then a guy got on the phone, said Amber was new and he
was the assistant manager. He got mad when I wouldn't give him the
name of my bank and I kept asking for a number to call him back at. I
knew something was up because he was so hesitant to give me a number
to call him back at, like it was ruining the whole plan.
