There will be high drama at government house for sure. What I am more interested
in is the threat by the PAD that they will start protesting again. These people
helped to overthrow a democratically-elected government, made it possible for
generals to seize power with terrible consequences, and their allies then lost
another election. Now, they want everything to be their way again?
One can only hope that they care enough about Thailand and respect the
wishes of the Thai people and leave it alone. Note that I said "hope".

Back in townhttp://siamsentinel.blogspot.com/2008/02/back-in-town.html
Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has returned to Bangkok after 17 months
in exile. Thousands of people gathered to greet him and a new poll (see Bangkok
Pundit) finds that many regard him positively. Thai politics will become even
more interesting in the coming weeks. Welcome home, Mr. Thaksin.
In an interesting sidelight, at least one commentator in the BKK Post
pointed out that while the coup supporters cite the people who came
out to greet the army when the deposed Thaksin, there were far more
people at the airport cheering Thaksin's return.
Now there is a new brewing controversy. He apparently has been
"invited" to be an advisor to the Finance Ministry. There is a debate
as to whether that violates the ban of his participation in
government.
Samak is keeping a low profile. ;-)
