I'm keen on the idea of trying to meet the right Thai lady for a

Might sound like a stupid question, but is there a reliable way to do
this?

It depends. Where do you live, and what is your connection with
Thailand, if any?

Why is it important that she's Thai, rather than any other
nationality?

I've seen some websites already. Has anyone met their wife by this
method?

Only in so much as I've been to Thailand and some other Asian
countries a few times. Thailand always captured my imagination, seems
to be any interesting country and the people come over as quite laid-
back and relaxed.
I originate from the UK, but would like to live out in Thailand one
day maybe.

What about you Chris, where are you from?

Do you think it's a mistake because I specified a particular
nationality? that never occurred to me before.

Yes, I think you are in danger of making a mistake. Its difficult
enough to find someone who you are sufficiently compatible with to
make a success of a marriage as it is without unnecessarily
restricting your search to a particular nationality.

If you're from the UK and are considering marrying someone from a very
different culture then you're only compounding the potential problems.
That's why I asked where you live and what your connection with
Thailand is. If you had lived in Thailand for a few years and had
already had a chance to gain a good understanding of the people and
culture then it might be a different matter. If you've only spent few
days in the country and just decided that you want a Thai wife then
maybe you should think about it a bit more carefully.
