pluto note:Thanks for the personal note, k' pluto.
i don't know what sort of barriers bkk is having to retain the shorelines.
about 20 years ago, i saw in the FEER a beautiful picture of octagonal rods held
together to form a 2 metre tetrahedron which were sunk into the dutch
shorelines.
i believe this technique is repeated and further enhanced in singapore where
after 40? years, the area of singapore has increased 10 folds. see map of
singapore.
about 10 years ago, i saw the world's only remaining virgin mangrove swamps at
paka, trengganu being bulldozed, barrier converted to housing and industrial
lands for the infamous petronas oil refinery. Previous to this, i had the
pleasure of driving by miles after miles of cool swampy seafronts. Within ONE
year, these mangroves were wiped out and i drove through miles and miles of
monotonous housing estates, refineries, tankers, ....... well that is for
development ;-)
k tichy surely would speak more on this ?

Maybe it's only a way back to the past (2000 years ago?), when the
whole BKK region was a gulf.
