Hi All,

Congratulations. Interestingly, another friend of mine told me just last
month that he, too, had received his Thai citizenship. One thing he
mentioned which I pass along, it is not necessary to be married to a
Thai to be granted citizenship. Most of us think it is, but he has never
been married and does not plan to get married. No problem. Apparently
the important thing is to demonstrate that you have somehow contributed
to Thai society -- preferably by having set up a successful business.
Thanks for describing the process, dbrenn. This is one of those things
that few people have experienced and many are interested in.
Hi,
You are right that it is not necessary to be married. However, if you
are not married nor have any Thai dependents, the requiremets are for
a higher salary (at least 80,000 Baht per month), and personal taxes
of at least 100,000 Baht paid in the last three years
.
